The Preschool Quiz Night
For the first time ever, this year St John’s Preschool wanted to have a fundraiser that would involve the church, the community and the Preschool itself. We decided on a Quiz night, so the preparations went ahead. With Ben Gill (a former Preschooler) as our Quizmaster, tickets printed and sold, and raffle prizes donated, June 10th arrived.
We had a brilliant night! With nearly 80 people in 12 teams, competition was fierce; there were teams from Preschool, teams made up of former Preschool parents, a team of people who had seen the Quiz advertised on St John’s website, teams from the church, a team from the U3A, and a team led by our caretaker John Wood.
We took the opportunity to hold our Preschool AGM half way through – probably the shortest, but best-attended ever!
At the end of the evening we had raised the amazing total of £635. Thanks must go to all those who came, who made donations if they couldn’t come, and who donated raffle prizes. (We made £150 on the raffle alone.) A huge thank you too to Ben, who challenged us, but didn’t utterly defeat us!
The money will be used for, among other things, staff training, which is very expensive.
Now all we have to decide is – “shall we do it again?”
