Saturday 21st April saw 96 people gathered in the Morton Hall, keen to show off their knowledge in the Hope4Malawi Quiz. Some tricky questions had been devised by Benedict Leonard, including a rather fiendish table quiz which was specifically about the country of Malawi. We even learnt the odd word or two of Chichewa as the tables were all named after African animals.
A lot of fun was had during the evening, and the generosity of those there was outstanding – they dipped into their pockets whenever we asked them too ! As well as the Quiz we held a raffle, and a quick game of ‘Mitu ndi Michira’ ( or Heads and Tails ) in which Alex Carroll was the victor in a closely contested game. Bottles of OneWater were also sold to keep the grey matter working! The evening raised a fantastic £823, and many GiftAid forms were also completed.
Whilst we were playing Mitu ndi Michira, Benedict and his assistant Tom Purton totted up the scores. The final winners of the Quiz were the Sunday Night Pubquiz team, who have also been donating their winnings on a fairly regular basis since our fundraising started in January. Well done to them, and all the other teams, and to Benedict and Tom for their help.
