‘Inspired to Follow: Art and the Bible Story’
Mondays: September 16 : 23 : 30 and October 7
This year we will be using a resource to help people explore the Christian faith, using paintings and Biblical story as the starting points. It’s been created by St Martin-in-the-Fields in partnership with the National Gallery. The course uses fine art paintings in the National Gallery’s collection, along with a theological reflection and a Biblical text, as a spring board for exploring these two questions:
How can I deepen my faith in God?
What does it mean to follow Jesus today?
The sessions are stand-alone so it doesn’t matter if you cannot come every week.
September 16th: Creation - looking at an Italian Florentine painting from 1430
September 23rd: Abraham and Isaac - looking at a 19th century German painting
September 30th: Moses and the Law – looking at another Florentine painting from 1500
October 7th: The Prophets – looking at a 17th century French painting.
We will meet in the Link at 7.30pm with tea/coffee and cake, followed by the course. We will finish by 9.00pm.
There will be a sign-up sheet on the Fellowship Noticeboard (so we know how much cake to bring)
