Autumn Study Series
Mondays 17th and 24th September; 1st and 8th October.
The Faith Development team is organising another Autumn Study series, starting on Monday 17th September and running for 4 successive Mondays. As previously, each evening will begin at 7.30pm with refreshments served in the Link. This year we are using a very interesting DVD called Life Journeys. The DVD is introduced by Jeff Lucas. It’s based on the life of Elijah, who lived in a multicultural, multi-faith society (sound familiar?).
At times depressed and discouraged by God’s spirit, Elijah expresses real emotions – and God meets him just where he is. The four sessions raise issues sure to provoke discussion. The evening will finish at 9pm. In recent years, the discussions have been lively and far more issues thrown up than could be explored in any one session.
The sessions do not seek to provide ‘answers’ but to provide a space in which to explore what we think about the issues raised and how our Christian faith might inform our thinking. The discussions do not seek to force agreement amongst all those present – rather, they offer a time and space in which we can ask questions, express doubts and concerns, and to listen to each other, often receiving new insights along the way.
All are invited to come and participate in this Autumn series. You do not have to contribute to the discussions - we hope that you will find them challenging and thought-provoking nevertheless. The episodes will ‘stand-alone’, so you do not have to be able to attend all four to be able to participate in any one session.
